How Smartphones are ruining your Life?

Have you ever counted the number of times you check your phone in a day? With the World Wide Web going mobile and smartphones making us almost anti-social, it is crucial to give yourself a break. Sure it is important to stay in touch. But, what happens when you start fiddling with your smartphone every two minutes? If you are going through this obsession, then take note of these habits that are possibly ruining your life.

Goodnight: If you are addicted to social networking, then chances are that you check for updates every free minute. Looking for people who’ve liked your profile picture or that selfie on Instagram, and who’s online on Whatsapp before hitting the sack may seem normal to you. But if you look closely, the habit is only disturbing your sleep pattern.

Bye-bye Instagram, hello food: Don’t we all allow the gorgeous-looking food to go cold without realising that Instagram can wait? The photo app has indeed turned our lives upside down making us go clickety click right when the food arrives. Realise that it’s a conversation-breaker and could turn off your company for the evening!

Drunk tweeting: Drunk tweeting is when you go about ranting about your ex or marriage or even your job after you've downed a few shots. So, the next time you party away with your gang at a bar, stow away your smartphone for evening. Avoid mixing alcohol and mobile devices; after all, you don’t want to wake up with a hangover, or feeling remorseful!

Texting while walking: Chatting or texting while walking is a complete no-no! Imagine what can be so urgent that it cannot wait for a few minutes till you cross the street or reach your destination? You will agree that risking your life for some mindless gossip is not worth at all.

Chatting when someone is talking: Do you have a habit of networking with the world while the most important person in your life patiently awaits your attention? Chatting up with your friends or office colleagues especially when someone is sitting next to you is considered rude and annoying. Agree or not?

Gaming away: It goes without saying that gaming is the newest bug to bite smartphone users! Sure, you want to kill time and have some fun, but seriously, are you turning into a 10-year-old? Think wisely, for the tap-tap-tapping is not doing any good to your personal life.

Taking your phone to the bathroom: Do you have a spouse who believes in reading the morning newspaper in the loo? No? Good for you! After the invasion of smartphones in our lives, people have started taking their most prized possessions into the toilet (ugh!). Isn't it damn embarrassing to call or text someone, then realising that they know you’re in the loo?

Checking e-mails on a vacation: Imagine this. You and your partner sitting at a hilltop cafe and engaging in sweet talk. But, everything goes haywire when your smartphone beeps its you've-got-mail alert. Checking official e-mails on a vacation is another annoying habit. Are you ready to jeopardise your relationships for the sake of e-mail?

Obsessing over Foursquare: Did you forget to do a Foursquare check-in the last time you went for a movie? Or, while eating out over the weekend? Oh how can you forget telling the world that you were gallivanting across town with your bestie? FYI - obsessing over Foursquare can land you in a soup and earn you a stalker!
